Solar power: When will it be affordable for Bay Area homeowners?

Hi Aaron,
Just discovered your blog. Anyway, the short answer is that solar power is only affordable with significant government subsidies. In other words, it's not economically viable in the real world. Until solar power of any ilk gets about 5 to 10 times cheaper, it will be little more than a curiosity best suited for remote applications where the cost of ferrying in fuel is significant.
